This charming antique porcelain lamp showcases a beautiful weathered patina where ochre paint has naturally chipped away to reveal original handpainted florals beneath. The juxtaposition of the aged, imperfect surface against the delicate flower detailing creates a stunning wabi-sabi aesthetic that tells a story.
The paint may continue to chip away overtime revealing more flowers as it ages. I believe this may have been a hand painted porcelain vase converted into a lamp. The bottom is patched with leather and the lamp was filled with sand to give it additional weight.
Rewired with a new golden cord and paired with a handcrafted mid-century lampshade with whipstitched edges.
This unique piece would add authentic character to cottage, bohemian, or eclectic interiors, making a perfect accent for bedside tables, entryways, or reading nooks.
Condition –
Rewired with a new cord and socket (while keeping the old Bryant socket housing). Because of the leather base, it doesn't sit perfectly level. The paint will continue to chip away if handled often.
Measurements –
Height: 14.25 inches (10.5 inches without the shade)
Width: 8 inches ( 5 inches without the shade)
Lampshade: 8W x 6H
